David P. " Floyd" Farley Memorial Fish worth $500.00
|
David P. “Floyd” Farley passed away on August 9, 2022. David was born and raised in Gowanda, NY. David was well known and loved by many in the community as he was a self employed contractor serving Gowanda and it's surrounding areas for many years. David was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his gardens . David's family asked that any monetary memorials be sent to the Gowanda Fire Department to support the Trout Fishing Derby. We are truly grateful for that.
So, to carry on Dave's memory and for his love for the outdoors, a trout will be tagged like all the others with a number assigned to it. The fish will be released into the Cattaraugus Creek with the other tagged trout for the derby. If the fish is caught during the hours of the derby, the winner will receive a $500.00 cash prize. If no one catches the fish, the money will be carried over to the following years fishing derby. All the tagged trout that will be released are 8-10 inches long. NYS regulations require a trout to be 12 inches or longer in order to keep it. So, the participants must clip the tag off the fish and release the fish back into the water for its survival. So Dave's fish will carry on and grow bigger for the future to hopefully produce offspring of trout for future years for avid outdoors men, women and kids like Dave was. |
